Obituary

Steven Russell Musso Sr.

5-25-59 to 2-26-23

Steven Russell Musso was a longtime resident of Obernburg NY alongside his wife Angela Dawn Musso. On February 26th, 2023 he passed away at age 63 due to cancer after a short battle. Son of Pasquale Peter Musso and Joan Marie Musso Johnson, Steven was born in Hancock NY. He was raised alongside his 6 siblings in Long Eddy NY. Throughout his career, he pursued construction, eventually known as a roughneck, roofer, and laborer. He followed in his father's footsteps, Pasquale Peter Musso, becoming a laborer for Local 17 until retirement in 2021.

In his adulthood, he traveled to Texas to find work meeting his wife of 41 years, Angela Dawn Cosby. The two decided to commit to one another on March 27th, 1982 in Bastrop Texas before starting their family. Raised in Long Eddy,  he decided to move his family back to New York in 1987 shortly after having their youngest child, Steven R. Musso. Steve is father to Ashley K. Musso, Amy C. Musso, and Steven R. Musso Jr. and grandfather to his three grandchildren Andrew J. Hund, Angelina F. Hund, and Aspen Grace Musso (Little peanut).

In his academic career, Steve attended Delaware Valley Central School where he excelled at football and baseball. Taking his passion for ball into adulthood, he played and coached for various different adult softball teams throughout the years. Athletics were a prominent part of Steves's life, he took pride in seeing his children pursue sports and loved bonding time over football games. His favorite sports teams included the Yankees, the Washington Redskins, and whoever played against the Dallas Cowboys. In 1999 he was lucky enough to attend the World Series watching the Yankees receive the victory for their 25th time in World Series history.

Alongside sports, Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. He loved going on fishing adventures with his closest friends “Coco”, Jeff Smith, and Stanley. Musso passed down his decade's worth of hunting knowledge to his son Steven and his grandson Jake. In 2022, he was proud to come home and announce that he'd shot the biggest buck of his life. His family would consider him a “Grill Master”, “a Budweiser mug enthusiast” and someone who could always make you laugh. He was notorious for his prime rib on Christmas day along with always providing for his family. Steve’s character can be described as generous, caring, hardworking, protective, and dependent.

He was preceded in death by his father Pasquale, mother Joan, br other Mark, nephew Jared, nieces Julia, and Jacqueline, and son-in-law Andrew Hund. Survived by his wife Angela Musso, daughters Amy Musso and Ashley Musso, son Steven Musso Jr., and grandchildren Jake Hund, Angie Hund, and Aspen Grace Musso.
