Karin Meyer

Karin Meyer, age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the home of her son Thomas in Palmyra, N.Y. 
Karin was born, December 22, 1930, in Elmshorn, Germany.  She came to the United States in 1952 to live with her aunt in Callicoon, NY.  In April 1956, she married her husband Albert Meyer.  They remained happily married until his death in November 2006.
Karin was well known in Callicoon for her excellent knitting and seamstress skills.  There are so many happy babies and warm hands, extending far beyond Callicoon, thanks to the beautiful baby sweaters and mittens that she would knit.  She was also the one who many of the townspeople came to for mending and alterations for their clothing.  Karin was well known for her baking too.  So many people enjoyed her cookies, cakes and delicious cream puffs.  She was always baking for her friends and neighbors.  Karin was a good friend to many in Callicoon having lived there over 60 years, until she moved in with her son in April 2021.  
Karin is predeceased by her husband, Albert (Al) Meyer and her brother Zigfried (Ziggy) Kelting.  She is survived by three sons, Thomas Meyer (Susan), Palmyra, NY; Eric Meyer (Linda Lester), San Antonio, TX; Steven Meyer (Denise), Azle, TX; 4 grandsons Karl Meyer (Jessica), Alan Meyer, Tim Meyer (Courtney), Joseph Meyer (Megan); and 6 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Antje Hellwig (Robert), Oakland, NJ, brother Karl Kelting (Kathleen), brother-in-law James Meyer (Rosemarie), sister-in-law Kathleen Maas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11 am at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Callicoon, NY.  Internment following for immediate family only.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Delaware Youth Center  P.O.
