Karen Elizabeth Bernas of Cochecton, NY 

Our beautiful,  kind hearted, independent, yet most stubborn aunt we all loved so much has passed peacefully on Sunday January 17,2021 at Garnet Health Hospital, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was a mentor to many! 
 The daughter of the late John and Ann Eitner Bernas,  Karen was born April 21, 1948 in Callicoon, NY . Karen was a Hotel Manager at the Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center in Callicoon, NY before her retirement.  Prior to her employment at the Villa Roma Karen was an elementary school teacher at Delaware Valley School in Callicoon  for many years, where She taught Kindergarten and First Grade. 
She leaves behind 5 nephews; Ian Ernst (Jodi),  Jeremy Ernst (Crystal), John Bernas (Michelle), Matthew Bernas (Jennifer), Luke Bernas (Ivanna) and 1 niece; Morgan Bernas (Ted).  Her devoted love for her 11 great nephews and 4 great nieces will always be cherished.  
 
She is  also survived by her brother-in-law, Lanny Ernst and sister-in-law, Lynne Bernas. 
 
 In addition to her parents she was she was pre-deceased  by two brothers John and  Michael Bernas and by her sister Joan Ernst.
