Joseph W. Nosek of Youngsville, NY passed away on January 19,2022 at Achieve Nursing & Rehab and Nursing Facility. 
Joseph was born on April 10, 1938 in Hancock, NY and was the son of Josef Nosek and Marie Kunc Nosek. At the age of seven the family moved to Treadwell, NY.
 He  graduated from A.L. Kellogg Central School and Broome Tech in Binghamton. Joseph served in the US Army and worked at NYSEG for 40 years. After retirement he did the maintenance at St. Francis Church.
While at NYSEG he met and married his wife Mary Banuat and they had two daughters , Susan and Tami.
Joseph was a charter member of the Trails End Hunting Camp. He was a member of the Youngsville Fire Department for 55 years. He served as Chief, President and Treasurer for the Department and was Chairman of the Youngsville Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners for more than 40 years. He was also a Past President and Treasurer of the Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters Association.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years Mary, daughters Susan Peters and her husband Dennis, Tami Smith and her husband Peter, three grandchildren , Michael and Matthew Peters and Katherine Smith, a cousin Irene Fales, sisters- in- law Ellen Hunt, Jane Keesler and her husband Arthur and Rita Banuat.
The family would like to thank the staff at Achieve for their wonderful care as well as his caregiver Gayle Halfors, and neighbors David & Sue Fahrenholz, and Carla Dworetsky and Patricia Parisella.
   
Friends may call on Friday January 21, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home 5068 RT 52 Jeffersonville, NY. Firematic services will be at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 22,2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Church Youngsville, NY, Father Robert Higgins will officiate. 
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Youngsville Fire Department or to St. Francis Church.
