Joseph Robert Erlwein of Callicoon Center, NY a retired Motorized Equipment Operator for the Town of Callicoon Highway Department, and lifetime area resident died on Thursday January 27,2022 at his home he was 85. The son of Bernard & Anna Kutger Erlwein , he was born April 8, 1936 in the Beechwoods. He was married to Marjory Young Erlwein.
Joe was a member of the Callicoon Center Fire Department, The Sullivan County Seniors Softball League, and was the Custodian for the Town of Callicoon Election Board for 50 years. 
Joe had many jobs during his life: he worked for Charles Sommer Feed Delivery in North Branch, Segar Oil & Gas in Jeffersonville, Mall's Hardware in Jeffersonville, the Village of Jeffersonville , and was last employed by the Town of Callicoon Highway Department. 
He is survived by his wife Marjory Young Erlwein at home , his daughter Patricia Walton of Callicoon Center, two sons Daniel Erlwein of Callicoon Center and Douglas Erlwein of Accord, NY, five grandchildren: Russell Joseph, James, and Angel Walton and Logan and Kendell Erlwein,: five great grandchildren : Aimee, Joseph Robert, and Matt Walton and Kinsley Blume  , and a new baby expected in May 2022, and by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Francis and Michael Erlwein. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Callicoon Center Fire Department or the Sullivan County SPCA.
