Gerald “Gerry” Patrick Harley Kinney of Narrowsburg, NY, passed away on February 3, 2022 after succumbing to injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident while traveling with his wife Linda and Veteran’s service dog Jabba who miraculously survived with little to no injuries. Gerald had just celebrated his 74th birthday on January 21, 2022. 
The son of Harley Patrick and Florence Eileen (Conley) Kinney, Gerald was born on January 21, 1948 in Yonkers, NY. He was the oldest of ten children. During his childhood, he was very active as a Boy Scout, earning the top honor of Eagle Scout. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Gorton High School in Yonkers. During high school, Gerald began his postal career and worked for the USPS as a postal clerk in Yonkers. After his high school graduation, he immediately enlisted in the US Navy, serving our country from 1966-1970 during the Vietnam War. 
After discharge from the Navy, he returned to his postal career and furthered his education at Hunter College and Herbert H. Lehman College, City University of New York, majoring in Labor Relations and Economics. During this time, Gerald met the love of his life, Linda Beatrice (Tedone) Kinney, in 1970 at the Yonkers Post Office where she was working during High School. They were married on May 21, 1972 and enjoyed 49 loving years of marriage. In 1990, they happily welcomed their daughter, Jessica Lynn. 
Gerald served for 46 years as a postal clerk, mail carrier, supervisor, and ultimately became a Postmaster in Lake Huntington for 10 years as well as in Kenoza Lake for nine years. During his postal career, he advocated for Postal employees as Union Steward and Vice President of Merged Branch #693 in Westchester, NY. He also held a position as a Local and National 
Postmaster Representative for the National Association of Postmasters of the United States (NAPUS) for over 20 years. 
Gerald was very active and devoted to his local community in Westchester and Sullivan Counties. He was a member: serving as the former commandant of American Legion Adolph Pfister Post 1038 in Valhalla, NY; Mid-Westchester Elks Lodge #535 in White Plains, NY; Lake Huntington Fire Department, Past Fire Police Captain, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, and an alternate delegate for the Sullivan County Volunteer Firemen’s Association; Marine Corps League, Catskills Detachment #652, Adjutant and former Chaplain, and served as Sullivan County Coordinator for the Toys for Tots program for more than 20 years; Sullivan County Fire Police Association and Sullivan County Conservative Party member. 
Gerald and his wife enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and several countries, enjoying visits with family members and friends wherever they went. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and a lifelong sports memorabilia collector. New Hampshire was his favorite travel destination, sharing his love of travel and fishing with his family and friends on Forest Lake in Dalton, NH. Always with a camera in hand, he took thousands of pictures of his travels, his large family and wide network of friends as well as the many milestones of his life with his wife and daughter. 
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Linda Beatrice Kinney of Narrowsburg, NY and his daughter Jessica Lynn (Kinney) Roda and her husband Adam Alan of Narrowsburg, NY; brothers and sisters: Eileen Rose (Kinney) Stephen and husband Gary of TX, Kathleen Rose (Kinney) Consavage of NY, Maryann Rose (Kinney) Grottano and husband Lenny of FL, James Patrick Kinney and wife Laura of NJ, Thomas Patrick Kinney of NY, Florence Ann Rose (Kinney) Fox and husband Tony, of NC, Timothy Patrick Kinney of NY, Elizabeth Ann Seton Kinney of FL, Maureen Rose (Kinney) Lambert and husband Rick of FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. Gerald is also survived by his best friend of 55 years, Navy brother and Godfather to his only daughter, Kenneth Arnold Hoysen of NH. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and called him a friend. 
Gerald was predeceased by his father and mother Harley Patrick and Florence Eileen Kinney and his children Robert Patrick and Melissa Ann Kinney. He was also predeceased by his sister-in-law Barbara Lynn (Tedone) Bernheisel and husband Edward James Bernheisel, as well as his brother-in-law Joseph Frances Consavage. 
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Lake Huntington Fire Department, more details to follow.
