Brian M. Gleason Sr., 73, a lifelong resident of Livingston Manor, passed away on Monday, November 6th at Albany Medical Center, Albany NY. Brian was the son of Marie and John Gleason.
A US Navy veteran, Brian worked on A6 intruder planes during the Vietnam war. He was stationed in Oceana Naval Base, Virginia Beach, and spoke proudly of his time serving his country. He worked as a postal worker in Livingston Manor for many years, and was a tireless caretaker for Claremont Farms.
A member of the Neversink Rondout Antique Machinery Association, he could often be found tinkering with his head under the hood of his old Jeep Cherokee. He was well known for his collection of Ford tractors and Studebaker cars.
Brian was a loving, caring, and devoted father, grandfather, son, and brother. He loved nothing more than spending time driving, fixing, and showing tractors with his sons at local shows.
He lived on the land where he grew up and enjoyed sitting by the lake behind his house, observing the antics of a resident eagle he fondly named “Stanley”. He doted on his chickens and took great pleasure in being both patriarch and problem solver for his many friends and loved ones. He will forever be cherished in our hearts and missed by all. Whether through his humble words of wisdom or his random acts of kindness, he has touched the lives of many.
He is survived by his sons: Brian Gleason and wife Vivian Green Gleason, and John Gleason and fiancé Melanie Hector, one daughter; Danielle Gleason, his 6 newly found siblings: Michelle Robbins, Pamela Banning, Elizabeth Sharon, Anita Mueller, Michael Sharon and Paula Sharon, 2 grandchildren: Joey Gleason and Kaleb Borders.
Brian is predeceased by his brother Leroy Sharon, father John Gleason, and Mother Marie Gleason.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 12:30 pm at the Sullivan County Veteran’s Cemetery, 171-181 Sunset Lake Drive Liberty NY 12754. A celebration of life will follow immediately after at the Livingston Manor Fire House.
