Joseph John Jones

Joseph J. Jones, 77, of Poland NY, died Friday August 3, 2018 after a brief stay at the Siegenthaler Center in New Hartford, NY with his family by his side. 
Son of the late David C. Jones and Myrtle Jones, Joe was born 6/29/1941 in Utica, NY.

Joe retired from the F.X. Matt Brewery where he worked for thirty years before starting Jones Repair where he worked for an additional thirty years. Joe was always very dedicated to his customers and his family, nothing made Joe more proud than to work alongside his son and grandson. Hunting was his favorite pastime and he always enjoyed sharing a Utica Club with his life-long friends.
Joe is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his daughter Kimberly (Mark) Murphy, son Mark (Rebecca) Jones, grandchildren Ashley Murphy (fiancé David Rutski), Lindsey (Gaston) Murphy-Owen and Ryan Jones. His sisters Mary Cook and Patricia Roan, brother Fred Jones and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his grandchildren, Justin and Todd. Brothers David, Richard, Michael, James, and Douglas. Sisters Betty Wohan, Mildred Dygert, Jane Huckabone and Eleanor Putney.

Joe was blessed to have many special friends and family who were very supportive during his brief illness. His family wishes to thank staff of the 6th floor at St. Luke’s Hospital and Hospice for their compassion.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 12th from 12:00-3:00 at the Cold Brook American Legion.
