Helen T. Hughson

Helen  Hughson of Jeffersonville passed from this earth on March 9, 2019, just three months shy of her one hundredth birthday. Helen was born on June 9, 1919 to the parents of Ruth and Andrew Thony and predeceased by her husband Wilson Hughson, her granddaughter Lauren Hughson and her son in law Richard Herbert. She is survived by her twin sister Hazel Hull, her son Wilfred Hughson, his wife Arlene, her daughter Kathleen Herbert, her son James Hughson and his wife Diane. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Wil Jr., Jacki, Joe, Lance , his wife Kari and Jamie  and 10 great grandchildren Richard, Rachael  Ryan, Maggie, Evan Lanie, Ella, Luke, Lilly and Levi, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was an active member of her church, The First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville, the Women’s Association  the Red Hats and the JEMS. Helen was known throughout the community as a lover of nature and beauty. So often she could be found picking up trash along the streets of town, weeding the flower beds, planting flowers and tending to nature. She will be missed by her family, her friends and her community.  While Helen was always tending to flowers in her life, in lieu of flowers at her passing she would have preferred a donation given in her honor to the First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville.  Friends may call on Monday, March 11 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 11AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville Main St. Jeffersonville.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home Jeffersonville, NY 845-482-4280.
