Alice Froelich Obituary

Alice Marie Froelich passed away unexpectedly on the morning of April 8, 2019. She had recently celebrated her 87th birthday.

She is predeceased by her husband, William, her brothers John and Richard Boberg, and sister Joyce Kaslaitis. She is survived by her brother David Boberg and his wife Diane, sisters-in-law Betty and Bea Boberg; her daughters Lisa and her husband George Rose, Peggy Ariosta, Sharon and her husband Tony Bellomo, Amy and her husband David Erlwein, and Mary Froelich. She had 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Little Valley, NY on the 5th of April 1932, she spent her youth enjoying the rich small-town life of western New York. Something both her and husband sought after living for a short time on Long Island. They chose the old Gempler farm on Swiss Hill in Kenoza Lake, NY to make their forever home, moving in just weeks before the 1969 Woodstock Festival. She was a dedicated registered nurse for over 40 years, working in facilities such as the Roscoe Nursing Home, and Catskill Regional Hospital, where she finished her nursing career working in the maternity department.

Alice was devoted to her family, friends, and neighbors. Known for her kindness and openness she could be often found sitting on her front porch with a crossword or a book, willing to have a conversation with those who stopped by to see her. The property that her, her husband, and children painstakingly renovated into a home and farm frequently hosted gatherings of all types. A lover of Scrabble and avid Jeopardy viewer, she was always willing to tell a story, a joke, or a bit of random information you didn’t know you needed. Her loss will not only be felt by her family and friends but the community she loved and lived in for 50 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jeffersonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, or the Delaware Highlands Conservancy.

Per her request there will not be a viewing but the family is holding visitation hours Saturday April 13, 2019  from 4-7pm for  family and friends at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, NY.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home Jeffersonville, NY 845-482-4280 .
